Series Hope: We’re all too familiar with walls of division and lines drawn in the sand. We know how to create echo chambers that fit preferred cultural or political ideals. Media makes its money by perpetuating conflict. Honestly, writing this makes my fingers weary. We’ve been saying this for such a long time. But, perhaps at a time when our country wonders how to genuinely celebrate 250 years of being the United States of America, we can focus on who truly can unite us, the church, for His greater purpose. We can’t be united with Jesus and divided against one another at the same time. The people of Philippi needed to be reminded of that. And – mercy, Lord – so do we.
